am just waiting for some black spin ed toads and am thinking of ideas for next tank, I'm after a large tank probably 4foot long by something like 2foot high, would it be hard work to keep track of darts in a tank this size especially as these toads are my first amphibs, it will be a while off before I'm ready for another tank but want to investigate as much as poss about what to keep next.

Sounds absolutely spot on for a group of P. terribillus. They are larger than your average dart, do well in groups, and are really active upfront ballsy frogs. I know of someone with either a 5ft or a 6ft dart tank, not sure which. It`s stunning and he has to constantly cut back the plant growth.

Not sure what ur asking but heres some info.

Darts will do fine in a arge tank and as plants grow in will become bold and sassy.. Leuc's will do good in a nice sized group maybe 2:4 (2 males 4 females).

once you have landscaped and such the size of the tank will be less but frogs like these will use all space available.

If your thinking of combining the toads and dart frogs the simple answer is don't

I would have fun landscaping a tank of that size hehe

would never mix species just wondering if you think someone with a bit of experience would manage a few in a large tank and if they'd get along, thanks for the tips though think theyr great ideas def look further into it cheers.

If you mean darts, yeah. For sure. There are a few species that could be kept in groups in just such a set up. Young frogs may do better in smaller set ups as its easier to find their food but adults would do great in a nice big naturalistic set up. I wouldn`t go for D. tinctorius in a big set up though, they are great starter species, to my mind one of the best, but they do better in pairs or 2:1 trios as there can be a lot of aggression amongst the females (women ) but P. terribillus, D. leucomelas or D. auratus would do well in a group of say 2:4.

to clarify-albob has set up a black spined toad tank, enjoyed it, and wants a new project! Thinking about darts, he has asked if they would be alright in a large viv or would get lost.
Good choice albob-im doing something similar and am getting some darts after working with other frogs toads and caudates this year. Im going for smal viv while young, then maybe increasing later.
