Probably because for the vast amount of people , they are not suitable as such. _________________ YSBRYDOLI POBL, GWELLA LLEOEDD

The group is called Mustelidae. I have kept polecats, ferrets and weasels (two of). All great animals, and easy enough to accomadate. Providing a stretch of river however, may be a bit beyond most animal keepers! _________________ YSBRYDOLI POBL, GWELLA LLEOEDD

damn cleese and his river lol
true. although, i am in two minds whether running river water would be necessary, and may do with still filtered water. meh, was just thinking out loud really.
what were the pole cats like to keep in comparison to ferrets |

Exactly the same, just more nervy, quicker, and with much stonger scent glands! They were useless for rabbiting, as they would easily overpower and kill a rabbit rather than bolting them. _________________ YSBRYDOLI POBL, GWELLA LLEOEDD

Otters are one of my all time favourite animals! Lovely creatures. Not an animal to keep in captivity really unless you have a vast amount of land and a river, then if you did they would be wild anyway
Mind you I do see your point you could say that about many species. Hmmmmmmmmmm otters at home _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

It`s been done before, Gavin Maxwell for example. The animal wrecked his flat, so he moved to Scotland where he had plenty more room. Basically the otter lived with him 24 hrs a day and was a full time responsability. So, if you have 24 hrs a day to spare, and endless supply of fish, and an isolated cottage in the Scottish highlands then go for it. _________________ YSBRYDOLI POBL, GWELLA LLEOEDD
