Anyone have any ideas or better still pictures of there frog/toad or newt set ups?
Have a few tanks going spare a viv and a huge plaster bath which has been fitted with lid!
Looks really neat like an indoor pond!
Would be nice to be able to use this for space alone it would be a great place for them to live!
But still looking for more ideas before i start making anything up!

Well my lil lad wants fire bellied newts in that?
I know they can climb lids gonna be totally escape proof! unlike snails who are more less loose in my shed but no matter huh Rolling Eyes
But i was thinking thats like 5ft long 2ft high and near on 3 ft wide!
So something we can keep a lil group of in there!
I am not going on species as i have seen so many i like its making it hard!
So as long as its not something that eats human hands fingers can deal with! Wink
Im still looking about and hoping to see something eye catching at next show too Smile

Right, well there are probably a few amphibians that COULD live in the tubs, but I can envisage one or two problems perhaps.

The first being that you wouldn`t get much viewing pleasure. The only way for you to see whatever you keep in there would be from above. Most predators tend to attack and grab anurans (frogs and toads) and caudates (newts and salamanders) from above. Peering over the top to see whats in there will therefore almost definately cause whatever is living in there to run for cover.

Adequate cross ventilation to avoid build up of molds or CO2 could also possibly be a problem. Smooth sides like that are also very easily scaled by all but the most clumsy of amphibians.

I think that your tanks you mentioned may be the better option. The baths look like they would make excellant livefood rearing bins though!

One other idea which may seem ridiculous at first, can the baths be drilled? I have seen fibreglass live food bins of similar dimensions uprighted on their sides, ( so that the open top becomes the front) ventilation added where neccessary, and a frame fitted to the front, and either a sliding glass door with runners fitted, or a hinged door. I have seen Panther chameleons being successfully housed and bred in just such a converted set up, and it worked really well. It had a frame and mesh door fitted to the front. Seemed to work well. So perhaps they could be converted into amphibian vivs if you or someone in your household have a flare for DIY. Just a thought.

The water isnt too deep just looks it as i sat below the level to take pics, They can get up on the rocks and onto there land!
I offer them food everyday so i know they have eaten by hand plus they all dive up to me at feeding now which is kinda neat!
The water is moving although you cant really see it in the pics!
So anything i need change move or do now?
And i need a few more toads that tanks far too big lol
