Pete, thanks for obliging me but that's far to wide a spectrum, i have to go join forums now
Fascinating by the way that from the 2004 photo's i would agree whole heartedly he is high gold. In the 2005 ones you can see the scale edges starting to dull down. No matter what he is the process is fascinating _________________ TFA

no-ones really answered one person who has seen the latest pics has said light normal though.
Right Dan, as u have seen earlier pics as well and can say in 2004 he was what you woul dclass as a High Gold does that give me the right to still class him as a High Gold? Or because he has dulled down a bit is he now not worthy of such high praise lol?!?
just curious!

OOOOOH, that's a tuff one
Is the "high gold" classed as a morph? Or atleast will his babies definately have a significantly higher chance of being "high gold"? If the answer to either/both of those is yes then i could happily go with calling him a high gold, after all it is the genetics that matters.
However if it isn't an accepted morph or is barely (if at all) likely to raise the chances his offspring are "high gold" then i'd just revert him back to "light normal" or probably just "normal"
I think thats fair? _________________ TFA

high golds are a wierd one as its not proven to be genetic, but if u breed two high golds together there is a much higher percentage of getting high golds in the litter.
Its hard, if u breed 2 normals the chances of a high gold I believe are next to impossible I think, so in theory there must be something genetic in some way there.
Might be worth seeing what the big bods say about the validity of high golds as a morph or just a bright normal?
I class high gold as a clean bright high yellow normal! _________________ 1.0 striped supersalmon DEAD

now that's his best looking year by far, nice pete!!!
As for high gold, I think that's a fair description for him but as it's not a proven morph I think that perhaps the description would change as he matures or loses colour. If however he is genetic and can produce more 'high golds' then the name would stay with him his whole life no matter how dull he goes (does that make sense?? ) _________________

well I have a girl big enough for him to say hi to later this year!
but Scott I agree if any babies show a high gold definition then he can stay, but in the mean time he is a high gold by proxy lol! _________________ 1.0 striped supersalmon DEAD
