They are selling them as FOOD for humans in their Chinese stores in Asia.
There is NO WAY possible these animals can be correctly housed while going thru the Tesco distribution and sales system, and then end up getting cut up a live just because some un-educated person believes it will make them a stronger person.
The South-east Asian food markets use 10's of 1000's of turtles weekly, most are now imported from other Asian countries as they have eaten all there own turtles. _________________

Are they wild caught or cultivated for the food market? _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

WC, although I did hear that the 'red eared slider farms' in the USA export millions to Asia, maybe for the pet trade but I doubt.
I haven't a problem people eating farmed reptiles, that are humanely killed, to me it's no different than us farming chickens etc
To me it's not the fact they eat these types of foods but WHERE they get them from (ie wild caught) and how they transport, sell and ultimately KILL them, lol....the eating part is fine by me _________________

I agree, I have no problem with humanely treated food produce (animals).
I don't like the idea of them being WC.
The medicinal trade in a lot of Asian countries encourages poaching of endangered speices, as a lot of the herbal remedies etc include bits of exotic and endangered species. This is very big business in China.
A reasonably large amount of illicit animal products also reach our shoreline to supply this medicinal trade. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

The main problem with all of this Is the fact the animals are disected piece by piece while still alive, this would not be acceptable to do to our farmed animals or any other living thing.
This Is sick & wrong and shows what a backward race of people they are! This treatment of animals wouldn't even be acceptable In neighbouring Japan. |

I read an article in the Reptillian a while back, that said that Biologists were finding undescribed Turtles in the Chinese food markets, seems like it was
probably the only place to find them, now they have pretty much eaten all of their own turtles and are spreading their net to Korea and surrounding countries, not a good time to be a turtle |
