Hello you really need to buy from a breeder. Tortoises are still being imported in to the UK, mostly all shops that sell them have imported them and are diseased to there eye balls. Please do not buy a cheap tortoise from a dealer as they will end up costing you more in vets bills. Tortoises from breeders will only cost you £100- £150 and you will get endless after care. I know of some breeders if you want to contact me on blondesarah@hotmail.com i might be able to help you.

i agree with sarah,
dont get it delivered...what shop is that?

Sarah, i didnt think they imported tortoises anymore, as far as im aware the shop where i go buy them from people like you and me?
i must admit i dont like the idea for those little tortoises to be travelling in a box all this way just for us to buy, as most would die.

also if you buy a tortoise dont or forget to get the cities for it...otherwise illegal.

Yes it is a sad fact that tortoises are still being imported into this country is horrible conditions. They are packed in a box on top of one another where they wee and poo on top of each other causing the worms and diseases they get. They are kept in these conditions for weeks until they arrive in the UK.
Once in the UK half have died (if you are lucky) and the other half are infested with worms and other diseases. A few months half of the tortoises that have survived are dead now you are left with a quarter.
But why do this? a tortoise is worth about 50p in Slovenia over here they are worth about £200.
Once they arrive in the UK the tortoises are sold to dealers for £15 which is much much cheaper than what a breeder would charge.
You can be very lucky and buy a healthy Slovenia tortoise, but i know many that have died.
If you have a Hermann's tortoise and on the article 10 it states CB in Slovenia, this is a wild caught tortoise there is NO captive breeding over there.
Its a horrible trade and I want to make people aware so that people stop buying them so the capturing of wild caught tortoises stop.

PLEASE BUY FROM A BREEDER I KNOW OF A FEW.
