My manager at work asked me for my opinion about his friend's Burmese.
He knows i have been keeping herp's for a long time now, and every now and then he just asks about the gang at home and general chit-chat about the world of reptiles.

Anyway to the story.

His friend has a female Burm measuring in at around 10 ft or more in length, she absolutely loves this snake and has had it since it was a sibling.
she let's the snake have roam of the house whilst she is there and on the odd occasion it is left out to roam whilst she sleep's at night.
Now on the odd occasion she has woken up to find the snake coiled up beside her, Not a Problem !
But once or twice she has woken to find the snake stretched out alongside her, right up close.
So she goes to her local vet and asks for there advice,
(now i would really like to know where this vet is)

apparently he told her
"it's laying beside you to measure you up to see if it can eat you"

I told my friend to tell her
"it's a load of rubbish !!!
every time i feed my Indian's or Sri-Lankan python's a rabbit they Don't lay up beside it to see if it will fit first."

So what do you guy's think ?????????

I have a friend who was told exactly the same thing. But like you say, snakes dont generally size up the animals before they eat, they just take what they can get!

Maybe its just the vets trying to stop people keeping exotic pets. Mad

Yeah this story goes around..I posted up about it ages ago and I believe Steve L said he had heard it before also..It was on the radio and the vet supposedly put the snake to sleep as it was a danger to her.. Laughing (not that I advocate sleeping with your snake)
