Why do breeders cut Royal eggs ?

I always consult with hubby before I buy new animals I don't have to worry about sneaking them in, and he also helps a lot with paying for them for me Wink Laughing I don't need to tell great big whoppas Shocked Shocked Laughing

Apart from Steve's very valid observation earlier in this thread (and notwithstanding Jamie's "doctor" fantasy) there isn't actually any other necessary reason to pip eggs.

However, as pigmentation is the last biological process to take place, the earlier you pip them the more likely you are to think you have produced a Crystal / Super Phantom / BEL / Lesser Woma etc .... Laughing In another thread posted by Scott W ("Any Guesses") you will find a photo of an egg that I slit far too early. Embarassed Fortunately it survived and it turned out to be a Pastel Lesser Platinum. From the photo, however, it looks like it could be something very special (like a Crystal). Surprised
