I haven't yet had the pleasure of having the option Sad The closest I got was performing surgery on a hatchling beardie with it's umbilical tied around it's waist almost cutting the poor little thing in half, that god my hands were steady even if the rest of me was shaking Laughing It's all in one piece and eating me out of house and home by the way incase anyone wondered if I now had 4 beardie parts instead of one.

Anyway, back on topic for me!! I've seen it done a few times, not in person though on dvd's and on youtube, and it looks fairly simple, I watched Tracy Barker doing it on a video and she made it look like she was trimming her nails Cool I bet it's nto that easy. I've said before popping and probing worries me more, but I'm going to have to learn how to do it, I just don't fancy the DIY approach Shocked Why don't local colleges ever do courses in something useful, anyone can build a wall Laughing That's me upsetting bricklayers Embarassed but at least you can't really do irreprable (sp) damage to a wall Laughing

Laughing Laughing That's superb Jamie, had me in fits. I must admit I'm exactly the same as you, I slit for NO other reason then being impatient and 'wanting to be a part of it' Embarassed Laughing

Oh yes, sorry Jamie, I had meant to reply to your brilliant post - rubber gloves, scalpel, wipe my brow nurse Laughing

Scott I love the honesty, I do agree with you too - 'wanting to be a part of it', - what a good way to describe it.

Loving the answers from you all, many thanks. Wink

If the day is near and there about to hatch i can see only one reason for it my self and thats why i do it (not royals mind)

full term deaths are avoided especially as some neonates are born minus there egg tooth

thats why i pip mine Cool

I did not know that, and certainly that is a very good reason for cutting. Brilliant, now we all have an excuse and can cut merrily away Wink Laughing

to be honest I woud probs slit after 55 days ( ie day 56 ) , in the case of royals , I would hate to find a perfectly formed neonate that drowned in the egg, knowing I had an option to cut it free earlier . horses for courses tho .

talking of '' course's '' specifically brick course's , thats the rows of bricks Claire .....guess , lol , who is a time seved Bricklayer here ????

let ya orf tho , cos I been away from the trade a long long long time .
