I am curious to know, what is the average birth weight of Ball Pythons (from your experience).
I have just weighed my female normal, hatched Aug 2006 and she is 575g. I am just interested to see how she is 'weighing up' against other animals around the same age. |

Oh, so my girl is under weight then? She is taking her food every Friday without fail, she is currently striking on Rat Weaners (although she did stop eating for about 6 weeks last year)..
Hmm.... I think I might be a bit concerned now.
Can anyone put my mind at ease? |

Well feeding time was today, and I have just fed her a rat weaner (52g) and a large mouse (24g) and she devoured them both.
I guess it might be time to move up to small rats. Looks like she is smiling now though (with her fat tummy). |

as long as she is eating and putting on weight i wouldn't worry to much. every snake is different and to get them to meet target weights doesn't always work. _________________

well not trying to be horrible but a female of 2006 should really weigh a lot more than just over 500gr. my 07 male weighs twice that. I feed my royals from when they are say 9 month's old little rat's and half term rat's, so no weaners, she should have been on larger prey already. _________________ 1.1 Hypo Salmon Boa (Gee Line)

So realistically, what weight should she be (as a guideline of course). I am moving her up to small, possibly even medium sized rats next week. |

I know it is difficult just to know what size to feed. I asked for help on here a little while ago. Everyone who replied was really helpful.
Now, my 5 1/2 month male royal weights only about 330g. I just feed him and he took a weaner rat. Not sure the weight of the rat but it fitted the stomach size rule. These rats do look big and each time I am surprised it gets it in his mouth.
There is a picture of my snake with a weaner rat on here.
