Great pic James! Was that you catching it in the wild or just a pic you found?
Cheers Stuart, you will have to come round one day and take some pic's to do my critters some real justice
Ailurus, there venom is fairly potent but they have a rather poor delivery system (rear fanged.) Most people suffer localized swelling and itching for a few days, this could get a lot worse if you are allergic to bee or wasp stings

Great photos, he looks to be in pretty good shape. It may be worth treating him for parasites etc straight away as they can get run down very quickly with the stress of import. We have had great success getting them to take defrost mice, but qualis and chicks will also tempt them initially if you have any difficulties. Best of luck with him.
Keep him well hydrated withy sprays and this will help lots too. _________________ Cheers Angi

Yep it is, it was one we caught last Summer. Really easy to find during the day in the mangroves as they are all curled up asleep. I'm heading back out this Summer for another research season so no doubt there'll be a few more to take photos of!
Again lovely looking snake mate! _________________ Regards James Stroud |

Stuart: Very true! I am treating him as a HOT, really not intending to get a bite from this fellow!
zarozinia: I have found out that he has been a captve animal for about 8 months and has eaten rats and mice on a few occasions. When i got him he was having a particulaly bad shed but apparantly is usually ok.
JStroud: Sounds fantastic mate! Cant wait to see the pics! |

Thats great news that its already on defrost rodents, half the battle won and the difficulty sloughing can easily be rectified with regular misting _________________ Cheers Angi
