I have asked around about this subject so please bear with me. I am just trying to get as much information as possible from experienced Royal breeders. The 'tail wagging' that Royals do when placed in together for breeding purposes........ is it males AND females who do this? Just males? Just females?

Thank you snakeypete........ yes I have seen Ralph Davies excellent vid several times and it is a female tail wagging here. He doesnt say whether it is just females who do this or males too and Im keen to hear others experience _________________ 1.0 Crimson Corn(Harvey)

Are your pair STILL at it then? No sign of mating yet? I thought it was sorted out as you vanished into the mists
Hope your crew are ok _________________ www.draco2.co.uk

I've only had my females do the tail wagging, when they are not being receptive to the male's attentions. I've had this in a couple of other species as well, notably my womas.

Both males and females 'tail wag'. It is usually an indication that they are ready to breed. Sexually mature males will also 'tail wag' if they are placed in an environment where another male or female has recently been.

Haven't seen any of mine 'Tail wagging' but a couple of my males if I get them out and let them run through my hands will expose their hemipenes _________________ www.draco2.co.uk

I agree with Rob that it appears females tail wag when they are not being receptive to a male, I have also seen them excrete urates at the same time. One of my males sometimes tail wags when placed in with a female, I normally find him hooked up shortly after introducing him. I just took in a few adult womas and whilst cleaning one of the drawers I placed a male in with the female and she started tail wagging as soon as he was placed in the drawer. She stopped as soon as he was removed. |

Thank you all for your contributions. I am sorry I have not been around to reply before now.... busy time with corn eggs right now with 3 pairs producing 45 eggs between them lol
Was just wanting to get to know the behavioural quirks of my Royals before attempting breeding later. It was a young male who I had observed doing the tail wagging and urinating in the presence of a larger female _________________ 1.0 Crimson Corn(Harvey)
