It really is. I have been using this method for a couple of years and its very effective and I sleep better at night for it.

The problem with Carbon Dioxide is that if you don't get your flow rate correct you end up freezing the rat first. It dies in a great deal of pain. I've had CO2 burns both from the gas and dry ice (goes with my job), they damn well hurt !!
You could have trouble with your vet over the isofluorane. It is a great anaesthetic, easily reversed, and less prone to kill your pet if used correctly during ops, BUT try convincing your vet you only intend using it on animals not to knock someone out.

...and as to electrocution, avoid it unless you know what you are doing. I'm no expert on electrics (where is Jas when you need him ? ? ?) You going for high voltage or high wattage ? High voltage with low wattage is just painful and not always lethal. Low voltage can be lethal if the wattage is high.

Some one tell me if this is correct or am I just getting my old A level Physics confused with advanced age ?!?

I think you mean current matey Cool

People have died from putting a 9V battery on their tongue....I think you only need 0.2A to kill in theory..
