Have seen the silly prices asked for some incubators so decided i would make my own.Managed to buy a working drinks fridge/cooler for £50.00.My first idea was to put a heat mat in there attached to a pulse stat but then thought as it is working could i not just reverse the polarity so it heats up rather than coos down then jury rig a pulse stat into the fan.Has anybody got idesa on this or am i talking rubbish lol.Any help would be much appreciated

I use a large fish transporting poly box. Get from fish shop.
I use doweling to put the egg boxes on. pushed through the box and siliconed.
I use two 35x6 inch heatmats taped to the edges of the poly box(not underneath the eggboxes, tip from jerry cole) attached to a pulse proportional thermostat.
I have 3 hydometers/digital thermometers to guage the temps.
the box is 23x17x11inches
the egg box is 11x11x7 inches from wilkies
vermiculite to water ratio approx 50:50 by weight NOT VOLUME.
An excellent read is:

Airflow; you get a more even temperature, I assume you mean the heatmats, but equally the dowels being raised give good air flow.
When you heat from underneath the bottom of the vermiculite is hotter than the top and can dry out creating more moisture higher up.
Doing it the way I was told gives a more even temp and humidity.

you can use anything as a shelf to put teh eggbox on so long as it allows air to circulate.

Yep got the poly box, need a heat mat and a stat.
I guess pulse is best for the stat?
Where is a good place online to buy them ?
Hopeing for some leo eggs.
I like the idea of the perspex and I have some spare.
