I havent seen it in the UK yet, I ordered from Geckoranch.com about 6 months ago.
My lot love it, all of my Rhacs (cresties, gargs, saras and leachies) eat all of the flavours I have tried them with.

Is mixing CGD with fruit just as good?

I wouldn't say that adding fruit to CGD would be a good idea due to CDG already being a fully balanced diet, by adding fruit to it you could upset the balance of nutrients and end up causing problems.
I would either use CGD straight or use the new diet but with no additives in the food.
Some people may disagree with this but I have seen excesses in things like calcium and other nutirents in geckos and it can be just as bad or even worse than a deficiency, but at least with a deficiency you can add the needed nutrient, taking it away again can be harder.
