couldn't think of a better word
ok downtime
my tegu gets up around 10.30 and goes down, burrows in,at 18.00 or 6 pm. there are 24 hrs in the day so he has 16.5 hrs downtime of which 6.5 hrs are daytime hours
my tegus downtime is 16.5hrs total and 6.5 hrs daytime. I know I’m repeating myself but i want to be clear about what i mean
what I want to know is how much downtime has the average bosc since they also live in burrows.
well any monitor really that burrows into the ground
thank you _________________ ULI |

Hard to say for all my monitors as there basking sites are also used as hides (stacks). They wedge themselves in at which ever temp level suits there needs and only bask on the very top first thing in the morning (after no heat at night) and after a good feed.
I would guess that if they have all they need in the hide, then they would spend longer in there. If it doesn't fit there needs, they will go off and serach for what they want (warmer temp, tighter hide, food etc) _________________

Not a monitor but my tegu comes out within 5 mins of me turning his powersun on in the morning around 7.30-8am..he will sun himself for a couple of hours then retreat to cool end under one of his hides..and usually regulates himself on and off for an hour or so at a time up until lights off at about 7-8pm..9 out of 10 times he is well asleep by then though.. i say "he" but pretty much sure its a "she"..lol.. _________________
