If you had stuck the cross bars to the uprights it might have a better chance of standing up so id do that and screw it together too. |
they are stuck to the uprights on boath sides _________________ jack

A tank? Do you mean a fish tank full of water? If thats the case then thats even worse. It might hold up plastic tub with a small animal in but if u plan on putting anything more substantial on it then it will simply fall down.
I dont mean to insult you but u couldnt have made it much less safe if you tried.
Firstly put the cross bars above the uprights so that the load is carried downwards through the upright
secondly use screws to fix the cross bars to the uprights
and ideally find a better way of fixing the uprights to the floor. Those L shape metal brackets from any DIY shop would be great for that.
please trust me, im an architect so i do load transfers and structures all day long _________________

Jack... A life lesson you might want: Listen to people who have been there and done that when they are offering genuine help and advise t stop you having to clean up a mess you could have missed.
The stand wont hold a tank with or with out water half a tank or a full tank please to save you and the animal any upheaval re think the stand and ask your dad or some one to help you construct a safe and secure stand for your animals.. I understand it is hard to take advise at 10 but its better to listen to people who have seen and experianced things before you. _________________ Paul

whatever age, these people have built umpteen vivs and stands. it wont hold any weight. promise you will get help to fix it. or sit your viv on something strong. when a viv is full of hides and plants and water bowls they are very heavy. _________________
