What size viv do you keep them in? What do you feed them on? Do they have any favourite foods? Nosey arent I?
I think these are Petes favourite gecko, (he fell for Lauren's Gandalf), I would love to get him one for his birthday, but they dont seem to come up for sale very often. |
At the moment they are housed separately. The male is in an extra-large exo-terra viv. The female is in a glass viv measuring approx 3ft x 2ft x 2ft. Both are decorated with thick branches, leaves and large cork bark hollows. I use coco-fibre sunstrate. They will eat anything and everything! They get fresh fruit (finely chopped or blended), livefoods and fuzzies (once or twice a fortnight). My female loves fresh figs and kiwi. Male just loves food...lol. _________________ Best wishes, Jackie

Hi Dean,
The female is in the larger viv so my plan was to put the male in with her. Do you keep yours together permanently? I have read that they do need a mating for each fertile clutch. My other Rhacs retain the sprem for one seasons worth of eggs wih just one mating. I'm unsure what to do. I prefer to house males separately so the females have time to recover and aren't constantly pestered by the male. Any advice will be appreciated. _________________ Best wishes, Jackie

I love Dobbys name as well I hope they breed for you, aparently my Gehyras have been at it, they live in my daughters room, and apparently they keep waking her up with their antics at night . Like Zarozinia I'd like to know how you keep them etc as well. Also what substrate have you used in that 3rd picture of Dobby, looks very attractive
I know what you mean about them coming up for sale, I've found 2 males so far, but both are miles away. I'm being phillisophical about it through, when the time is right and I'm meant to have them, they will appear
Thanks for posting them up Jackie, I'm all excited again now |
No problem. I waited (and saved up for..lol) four years before I got mine so I know how excited you are. Somedays I still can't believe I have them...lol. Good luck in your search. _________________ Best wishes, Jackie

Thanks Jackie. Le me know how your mating gets on, well not ours, the Leachies
I'm keeping my eyes peeled and my ears open, but in the meantime I've just collected about 30 minutes ago another 2 female leos, and now have the heads up on some Panther Chameleons _________________ www.draco2.co.uk

Hi Jackie,I would swap the geckos around between vivs so they get used to each others scent as they scent mark on a regular basis.I keep mine together all the time now and have not had a problem as yet the viv is 4ft high 4ft long and 2 ft deep so there is plenty of room.I still find both sleeping together behind a fake plant.I use two feeding stations but they seem to share and there has been no aggression.I have herd of others who mated one year were separated then fought the next so it is a matter of personal choice if you leave them together or not. |

Probably a damn stupid question Are these guys as babies like the cresties and you have to wait for them to grown on to be able to sex them? I'm assuming yes, but if I'm wrong and some youngsters come up then it would be less of a worry if I could avoid getting 2 males. _________________ www.draco2.co.uk

Just found this on but it doesnt say what sort of age so I'd assume its prob like the Crestie at about 8 months of age onwards?
