One thing about Generators, I rang up Habistat to find out if it would affect stats. Apparently, the pulsing current from the Gen can damage the fine workings in the dimmer stats. Not sure if this applies to pule / temp stats, but I would guess its the same because of the very fine internal workings.
Any ideas?

Cheers

Mark

before plugging in to the genny you could use a surge protector or a small ups to smooth it all out

We use a backup battery power system for the incubators, a gas generator to run lighting and heat for the snake racks and we have a catalytic propane heater (no smell or fumes) to keep room temps up. So far we haven't had to run the generator but the battery backup has come in handy a few times for shorter outages.

How long would a battery backup last running 4 incubators do you think? I dont want a repaet of last year. I think the heatmats are 25w, not sure... And I doubt theyre on full

@DrAdam,
think you would need to know the total watts for what you need run.
You could use 2, 12v car batteries = 24v & the 24v Invertor, would last a bit longer than one 12v battery I would think!
you'll need to find out if (2, 12v car batteries = 24v & the 24v Invertor) would work as I'm only using a 12v caravan battery.

A caravan battery would last longer but more expensive
Wink Very Happy
