I am off to Turkey in the summer for my holidays.
I have been before but didn't manage to do any herp hunting.
Can anyone recommend any sources of information ( books or websites ) or places ( such as zoos or wildlife parks ) to visit that would be of interest?
I am going to the Bodrum area of Turkey. _________________ Fraser Gilchrist

Fraser,
I've not herped that area but have done other med areas.
If you are going mid summer you'll need to get up very early as the ground will be hot by mid morning and will reduce herping to brief glimpses of fleeing animals.
If you are flipping tins and wood be careful of vipers......hospital food abroad not a good idea!!!

Thanks for the pointers. I would love to see some Spur-thighed Tortoises - Testudo ibera in the wild.
Don't particularly fancy a stint in a Turkish Hospital due to a snake bite. Not that i have anything against the Turks or those people who work in Hospitals, or indeed snakes but..... STOP STOP STOP i think i should stop digging now, i can almost see Australia!!! _________________ Fraser Gilchrist
