Hi
Just got my first beardie he is 9 weeks old.
Was wondering the best way to set up his lighting, given that I leave for work at 8am and return 6.45pm.
When should I have his lights coming on and off?
I would like them on in the evening so he is awake when I'm there but how would I then feed him in the morning?
Is it OK to put in the some locusts in the morning and just leave them in there for him to eat throughout the day - and then put some more in around 7pm.
Also, I have a calcium supplement - which vitamin supplement should I use as well? Or if I get some nutrabol will that cover everything?
thanks for any help _________________ Cheers! |

I work long hours, almost the same as yours. I put the lights on just as i leave and turn them off between 9-10pm, depending on when she curls up to sleep. Most off the time she is out off the viv in the chair with me till late.
I use veg in the mornings and crix and locus in the evening |

Hi
thanks for quick reply.
is 14 hours of light OK then?
Another forum (sorry!) advised me that would tire him out and I should have lights out by 9pm at latest. would be a shame though as he would be in darkness in the evenings when I'm around.
Is it just at night time when I need to make sure there is no livefood left in there, its OK during the day for it to be there?
Also been told to just use Nutrabol as this has calcium and vitamins, or should I use this in addition to the calcium powder I already have?
Do I only need this when they are young?
At what age does a beardie become an adult and require only 1 feed a day? _________________ Cheers! |

Nutrobal should be used for the vitamin supplement but aa a calcium supplement its not strong enough
Use a pure calcium supplement like calypso sold in the livefoods shop
also think if nutro was used thewhole time they can overdose on vits etc |

I use calcium supplement on my beardies veggies daily & on all live food. Then use nutrabol once a week.
Gets fresh water every morning.
I also work crap hours & so his uv & basking light come on @ 8am & turn off @10pm - i was told 14 hrs was fine.
Only had mine 2 weeks but he seems to be coming along fine with this routine. |
