Hi,

Is it possible to keep a juvenile male and female Royal Python together and if so at what age should they be seperated?

Cheers,

flinty.

No reason why not but if you can I would house seperately as this way makes things easier with regards to feeding.

Thanks Stuart, good point. I have 2 spare viv's at mo and I was thinking of putting my juvenile jungle corn in one and a pair of royals in the other. Think I might set up another and keep them apart.

I have heard that if the male can "sense or smell the female" he would stop eating. As these would be housed in a rack would this be a problem if the male and female were housed in the same rack as juveniles or would it only cause a problem as adults.

cheers,

flinty.

Wouldn't have thought you will get any problems as juveniles mate.Only when the male has reached maturity.

Another question, my local reptile dealer, Mendip Monsters, says that Royals are hard to get hold of at the moment, he only has 2 male adults and I would like to start off with 1 or 2 juveniles. Could anyone recomend a breeder?

I have found "North West Exotic Pets" on the net who seem to have a lot of Royals in stock.

Cheers,

Flinty.

royals are never hard to get hold of, there are stacks on the various free ads pages... from babies to proven adult females...

adie (mendip) told someone the other day some blarny about there not being many CB panthers about, and told the girl hers was most likely WC (its not... i know the breeders!)

most of the pet shops i know have royals in at the moment still... i just spoke to one in bristol who have three CB 05 babies... i have met the guy who bred the royals that they are selling also. He was at the shop opening... i could supply his name too if need be, but he's in wales... v into his royals....

adies ok... but he does seem a little fond of telling what i would call a rather tall story... i wonder sometimes, if such a story is designed to help profit margins....

male adults are not always easy to sell on, most people want adult females... if i had more suspicious a mind, i would suspect the motives behind telling you "there are not many juv's about.... but i have these two you adults you could get.." are a tad selfish...

i hope he did not say that they would be happy in a tank together for the rest of their life...

bristol is not that far, if warminster is local... its well worth the trip...

i would also value your opinion of Adies shop in comparison to Petes.. i've not been to adies... i tend to bump into him in reptiles plus when he is buying millions of crickets.... which ALSO makes me laugh, as i keep being told he slags them off lmao, yet shops there still..

anyway...

http://www.reptile-zone.co.uk/

is the website.... its well well worth a trip for a look...

M5J16 -> head for filton -> still to filton -> filton again all the way -> till you see KFC -> onto the roundabout and go back on yourself and park in KFC... -> walk away from KFC towards big snowboardy clothes shop.. with the shops on your right , kfc at your back.. down the side, at the egde of the car park bit is a walkway past subways..(sandwich place) turn right at the end, and its a few shops down on the right..

Thanks for that Nerys, I got a CB 05 Royal today, just before your post. A friend of mine was at Blagdon Water Gardens and phoned me to say they had a number of Royals down there. I spoke to Andy who bred some of the Royals they have for sale including this one. I went for a this guy because of his markings, he is really dark and apparently 50% het ghost although unless I breed him to a ghost female that is neither here now there, just liked him.

He is just lying along the front of the viv watching me as I type this.

I shall take a trip into Bristol and checkout Petes shop and let you know.

Cheers,

flinty.
