Hello im new here but I was wondering if I could ask your opinion? I have a spare 6*2*2 foot viv and was looking for ideas of what to put in there. I keep a columbian tegu at the mo but unfortunately due to work comitments she has to go. I was wondering how many ackies i could get in there or perhaps somthing bigger? Thanks in advance for any replies, Blair. |

You could certainly keep 1.2 or even 1.4 Ackies in a viv that size, although you would need to raise the group from hatchlings (otherwise they can be very aggresive to each other). _________________

Plated lizards might be a good choice for a viv that size, e.g. a pair of Gerrhosaurus major or a trio of one of the smaller species.
Either that or a pair of northern blue tongue skinks...
So you've decided that you can't put up with the tegu any longer?

I'm sure some people are thinking it but i'l say it.Why have you got to get rid of your tegu due to work (if your going to replace her with ackies, ect you may as well keep her) is she tame ?.What would it matter ? i feel if you don't have time for a tegu i don't see how you can have time for a bundel of ackies ect ? you ether have the time or not ?.
Sorry for the downer but just a opinion. _________________ Rough leo gide.

The only reason that I have to get rid of the tegu is that I have to go to france for a month for work. My beardie will be looked after by my friend but as the tegu is a bit flighty she wont go anywhere near her. When I get back i hopefuly wont have to go away again for a long time hence why I will be able to dedicate more time to my animals. |

Hi guys,
this forum is not really about the why's of people deciding not to keep something any more, unless it is a reason that is helpfull to others (i.e too large, too aggresive etc).
People are free to change their minds on what ever they are keeping, so long as the animals don't suffer there is no problem anyone keeping something for a period and then passing it on to another good home. That is FAR better than someone getting bored or less interested in an animal but keeping it anyway.
I have kept many 100's of species of reptiles now, some I kept long enough to breed once or twice then passed them on, others just long enough to learn what they like, get some good photos and others I still have I don't ever plan on selling. _________________

No worry's i know you don't have to explane your self to any one but yes it now make sence .Yes lizard that are frend frendly when you need to get someone else to look after them for a couple day or so yes ackies scott already told you how meny you can have .Blue tonge skinks are good but get them young and make them tame (they tame esay) a northern bluey would be a good one to do for they can but is very very rare get to 30inch's from snout to tail tip but avridge around 24inch.Ranking dragon are very cute you could do a nice little set up with a 6-2-2 viv 1 male 3-4 female ?. _________________ Rough leo gide.
