last night during the feeding ritual, i start with the spotted pythons as they always feed with no problem then wok my way onto the gtp's, royal's, brb's, bridles, house snakes, bloods and finally the white lipped.
by now it must have been about an hour since the spotted's had fed, when out of the corner of my eye i see Jiwa my female spotted still struggling with the mouse she is eating and pro forming a kinda death roll.
thinking to myself this looks odd, it then strikes me what has happened and to my horror i find she has completely swallowed her own lower jaw.
at this point i start to intervene, it hits home how much i actually love this little serpent despite her ever persisting charms of trying to eat me.
for about five minutes trying no to panic i tried extracting her jaw but it seemed to be folded back on its self and jammed in, it starts to appear that her tracioctomy is starting to bulge out the side of her throat appearing very swollen.
starting to sweat bullets by this stage, when suddenly she regurgitates out the mouse in a violent movement of the body along with her jaw.
the mouse lands on the floor dripping in blood, later i determine its the mouses blood, thankfully.
Jiwa sits there looking rather punch drunk for a while with tongue hanging limp and jaw looking like shes done twelve rounds with Cassius clay.
then she relines her jaw opening and closing it and continues to carry on as if this happens all the time at this stage i return her to her Viv and head outside to down a Strong sherry and hope the winter cold brings me outta shock.
woke up to find her in the usual ambush position with a huge steaming £$*@ lying in her Viv.
