Hi Jase, the Fires are a lot lighter, almost silvery yellow as adults. I have put a couple of pictures below. They also have a ghost like appearance. Side by side they are quite different. I have some Fire boys mating some normal girls. I fed my boys yesterday and giving them another rest day (they have been so busy, lucky sods!!) but I will put them back in to the girls tomorrow, when I do I will post you a couple of pictures of them together so you can really see the difference.

Hi Paul

Does that mean that the Fire is a Visual Het? How does it compare to the Russo line Het Leucistic?

Cheers
Dave

Right guys, I will try and help here. Yes the Fire (100% het for Black Eyed Leucistic) is a clear visual het. I have attached a couple of pictures along with a picture of my Super Dwarf Fire Retic to show what this type of gene does. The Fire male in the picture is not the best example but the better one is milked over. I have never seen Russo Hets in person but I believe they are more of a golden yellow than the Fires and of course they produce the Blue Eyed Leucy. I'm sure many have a very light normal in their collection that does look the same but in the flesh they look very different. You can also see the ghosting on the Fire in the picture.

Those fire combos look awesome but how do you tell a fire from a normal?! Confused

Fires usually have a light circle pattern on their heads (well according to the Ralph Davies site) Very Happy

Only 2 of mine has this 'circle pattern' on the head, one is pictured above. What they have is a ghosting on the head. This is more of a patch and on most not circular, just ghosting. One of my proven males has nothing. Either Ralph is wrong, I have been ripped off or there is more than one line. I don't think this is an accurate method. If I prove all of mine out then this is certainly not the case. Hope this is helping.

Great pictures and really lovely snakes. Goes to show how they differ, your Fire looks very different from mine. Very nice though, ALL of them. Good luck with them all.
