Right a quick question if you dont mind, I am in the midst of sorting out my DWAL, and I have been speaking to the licensing people of the council and she admitted she doesnt really know much about it and has to do some research including talking to other councils that issue DWAL, I had a long chat with her explaining what I wanted to keep and the precautions, which she said all sounded fine, which is good.
The only thing she said that is a pain, is that they want all the seperate species listed on the DWAL, now my plan was to say up to 5 snakes, in the first year, so then that leaves it open for me to get some and they still be on the license. Because most people I have spoken to can say 5 snakes regardless of species, is this the same for you guys or do you have to name individual species?? _________________ Theres nothing right on the left side of my head and nothing left on the right |

You have to have all the species you keep listed on your Dwa lisense AND on your public liability insurance policy. _________________ You can't trust the snake......but you can always trust the snake to be a snake. |

so you got a few in the first year right? did you update the licence as you got them or what? Maybe the difference is that the people I have mostly spoken to keep theirs on PSL _________________ Theres nothing right on the left side of my head and nothing left on the right |

I got the impression after speaking to her that any I wanted to keep in the up coming year I would have to name at the start of the year, but then what if something happened to come along that you wanted? maybe I got the wrong end of the stick _________________ Theres nothing right on the left side of my head and nothing left on the right |

no problem mate, thanks for answering, my plan is to start off with a copperhead, then who knows after that, I dont have any major plans for wanting more straight away, I plan to build up my collection over time, id like a WDB, but thats the only thing I can think of really off the top of my head. My worry was that if I didnt put WDB on the DWA at the start of the year then I wouldnt be able to keep one until I updated my license at the start of the next year.
But could I ring the licencing and the insurance at any time and say can I add this to my license? _________________ Theres nothing right on the left side of my head and nothing left on the right |

Now thats the way to have the license, at the moment all I want to keep is agkistrodon and crostalus but over time this will change id quite like a cerastes cerastes, I know most people like Bitis gabonica but im more a fan of other bitis, its 12 weeks until I apply maybe 8 weeks so then it can be sorted by the start of the year. _________________ Theres nothing right on the left side of my head and nothing left on the right |
