Then what scott said is completely right, a heatmat is not enough.
I heat my snakeroom to 24degrees 365 days a year. 19 will cause respiratory infections

Then it brings me back to the start of heat transferal.......

Unless I heat the whole room which I don't want to do

Eggman, I think you are missing the point.

If I use ceramics in a stack of vivs then the one above gets hotter.
Therefore to much heat transferal!

I was just looking for any suggestions other than what I am using now.

Then seperate each viv with some sort of insulation i.e. polystyrene this will stop most of the heat transfer from viv below. Cool

No mate I think you're missing the point.

If your ambient temps are 19c then you need to use ceramics for a vivarium setup.

If that causes a problem with having a stack of vivs.. then don't have one.

Chil eggman, I was only asking. I thought thats what this forum is about.

Royals love to live and spend most of their time down holes in the wild, that's why they do a LOT better with hides in. Using an appropriate size tub rather than a viv creates the more natural and secure environment. I use no hides in my tubs and they all do well. The only problem is when you put them in a tub too large they become less secure and don't do so well. These animals feed, eat and breed better when in tubs so there is something quite obvious in using them. There will always be a temp difference in the top and bottom tubs, this is usually a minimum difference and as long as you use thermometers to check then they should be OK. If not then run a thermostat for the middle ones that should be the same and a separate one for the top and bottom tubs. Heating rack and vivs should bump up the ambient temperature in the room. CHECK ALL TEMPERATURES, both ambient and in the tubs, if the ambient temp is still too low as mentioned then a heater in the room is NEEDED. I recon Eggman could take you any time so be NICE Laughing Laughing Laughing

Thanks angel148

I am slowly coming to the idea of tubs, it is that I like to look at all my snake instead of hiding them away in tubs. ( its also a good way of checking them)

I have seen others that cut holes in the tubs and use clear plastic.
so there is a compromise!
