hey again, can anyone tell me the pro's and con's of keeping rhaco's.
'coz i am trying to convince my folk's that they are a good and rewarding pet to keep and i want it from someone with experience rather than some random site off google!
Thanks~Liam _________________ 95% of the time people will beleive you if you give tham a statistic! |

Pro's
Cooler temps, less expense on equipment and electric
No UV required
rarely bite (I've never been biten, keeping over 300!)
can eat a NON insect diet (may need a few insects until its settled)
small size, easy to house
great colour variations
relatively cheap
Con's
Nocturnal, they are only really active when the lights go off.
I'm sure other keepers may be able to add someting else. _________________

Pros - same as Scott's list...lol. Though he forgot to say they are very, very cute...lol.
Cons - Same as Scott's list.
Not so tolerant to handling. They do tame down but can't be handled like a Leopard gecko can for example. The jumping can be unpredictable...lol.

Could be a one-off, but my gecko was very tolerant of handling, barely jumps whereas the leos in the shop were very skittish. (without ever being handled previously)
But not all are like that.
In winter, you see a lot of them, as I shut my door, and make the room pitch vlack, at the same time it does outside, this time of year, it's about 8' o' clock!
Also, they are more active then leos! (And yet they can't run fast ) |
