Ok, this little guy is coming up for a year which is still a bit early but it seems to be a decent size, so, wondering if any one can determine its sex. |

If i remember rightly gargoyles can be sexed after 6-7 months i believe it is the same as cresties, with the male having a bulge at the base of the tail. So i would say your gargoyle is a female but ask someone like Scott just to be sure as i am only going off what i have read. _________________ 0.0.1 Rhacodactylus ciliatus (Crested Gecko) |

Hey Dan, cheers - it's actually a giant caledonian gecko. They reach sexual maturity between 3-4 years old, i believe, but sometimes you can sex at a younger age. |

Well, i think its roughly that age but don't quote me on it - guess it also explains how they remain quite highly priced as well lol |

My male henkels is just over 18 months old (I think if my maths is correct..lol). He has had an obvious bulge for about 6 months now. The rows of preanal pores were evident when I got him (a year ago).
Male today:
Him around six months ago:
Female
My male was sexable at around six months old, which was how old he was when I got him. You could just make out the preanal pores with the naked eye. My female on the other hand..lol. I wasn't convinced until she actually laid her first clutch (infertile). She did this at just over two years old. My pair are henkeli and they mature at a younger age than the larger subspecies (GT). My two should (fingers crossed) be ready for breeding this time next year.
Hope this helps. _________________ Best wishes, Jackie
