Angels activity went from very active to sleeping constantly on the 8th july. The only time she moves is when changing from the light strip ( which is never on )of a night to her warm hide and then back to the light strip of a morning.
I normally feed her every 5 days so she has now refused 3 feeds and i haven't seen her drinking either ( unless she's popped out during the night).
I was thinking that maybe she'll shed soon because when she was last due to shed she hid for 2 weeks and then became active again once shed. But during the 2 weeks of hiding she still ate even when her eyes had gone cloudy.
Also she doesn't want to be handled at all.
Do you think that maybe she is going to shed soon or maybe something else is upsetting her?
Temps are the same as usual and nothing has changed in her viv.
Also how long can she go without food and possibly water if not drinking?
Any input is appreciated. |

It does sound like she may be coming up to slough, sometimes they feed whilst blue and some don't. Does she look dull to you atm? _________________ www.ratsnakefoundation.org |

She doesn't look very dull atm, the checkers on her underbelly aren't as black as they normally are. Her eyes are still very clear, no sign of them changing colour yet.
The reason i'm think of her being due to shed is because of her hiding for so long last time.
It's just not like her to miss her food, she's a really good eater. This will only be the second time she's shed since i got her at the end of may, so i can't be sure if this is normal behaviour for her yet.
The last time she shed was June 18th. |

Then I would say yes shed is due, it isn't like clockwork but babies do tend to shed monthly as they are growing so rapidly, young snakes can turn upto two thirds of their food into body mass.
They go completely clear again before a shed though they tend to be duller in colour sometimes this is less noticable in classic corns compared to the more colourful morphs. This got me the first time it happened I had to ask at the shop as I thought something had gone wrong and my little snow was stuck in his old skin. |

It does sound like she's going to shed then, humid hides can be beneficial for snakes who are blue or a general spray in the enclosure to increase humidity. _________________ www.ratsnakefoundation.org |

I guess i'll have to wait and see what happens over the next week then, if she is behaving like this because she's going to shed then at least i'll know what to look for next time and won't be worrying so much.
I've put a home made humid hide in for her, she's been in and out a few times.
Thx for your help |
