Is it true that sand can get under scales, or that it can cause compaction?
Thanks! _________________ 1.1.7 Bearded Dragons

I wouldn't advise sand for snakes, does get under the scales. I use chipsi with some, sphagnum peat with some, carpet with some and newspaper/kitchen roll with some.
Choice if substrate can depend on what snake really. _________________ www.ratsnakefoundation.org |

Newspaper like others have said. It is easy to clean, just throw it away, cheap so more likely to clean it more often than expensive substrates, It can be covered with fake plants etc if you don't like the look of it. |

uncoloured kitchen roll. Line the viv with the big squares then scatter some that's been shreded across the floor of the viv. |
