rick you should be sponsored by habistat the amount you have in there.

really nice setup mate wish i could have something like that.

you must be well pleased with it.

how many vivs does it have in it?

The construction of the room just needed thought and planning. If I can end up with a result like this then anyone can. Space permitting. I am pleased with it yes it makes life so much easier. I have now installed a misting system what a boon, well happy with it. Just need to plumb in for drainage now.

Habistats
I bought them at trade prices but it was still very painfull. I suppose I could have cut down on a few here and there but I want to be able to individually control each viv, even various panther locales have slightly different needs from each other. So I can now, as much as is possible vary the environment for each cham. I tend to keep the baby chams at cooler temps than the adults etc.

I have a mixture of baby vivs sub adult and adult vivs in the herp room, at present there are 50 vivs in the room without it being cramped in anyway.

Am contemplating creating a central isle using plastic shelving units, the same as in my frog room, to house more of the baby vivs 30x30x45 cm's Exo terras. Not sure yet though as this may make the room feel cramped and may hinder being able to work freely in the room. Hmm will have a play about with a unit to see what happens.

Have been ponderring and have my eye on a piece of ground at the end of my garden 60ft long 15 feet deep. Am thinking a very large timber sectional building could go in there Laughing Split into three rooms. One for tropical one for temperate and one for livefood. hehehehhe

Can I come see? You're only 30 mins from me, i'll buy a load of roaches while i'm there Very Happy

You would have a long wait as it takes me a long time to count out roaches for my customers orders, and they move very quickly (the roaches not the customers), its an art form Laughing

I must admit I try to keep viewing down to the absolute minimum. I shall have a ponder.

OK Ive just read through all 33 pages of this thread and i have to say I'm so impressed (in fact impressed don't come close!), a friend converted his spare bedroom into an enclosure of his Boa but that's about as much as Ive seen, conversion-wise.
I have to ask a question though (excuse me if it seems I'm being nosy or if its already been said!) where did you keep them all before all this got set up? And why do you have so many?

You must be very proud of yourself! Very Happy

I kept them before in my house in various rooms. Luckily I have a lot of rooms.

I have so many simply because I love them, plus am addicted. There is also a commercial side to this that has taken off just really by passion progressing and selling of excess animals form breeding projects.

Not particularly proud of myself, but pleased the project is complete and that it works well. The main thing is that the herps get the best that I am able to give them. After all they dont ask to be kept in captivity so its a duty of care and rightly so.

A small update to the project, I have installed the misting system and it's 25% complete. I fitted an air con system today superb it is, keeps the ambient temps down to whatever I set it to, 73f at present, in turn this ensures the basking lamps remain on via the dimming stats and creates good variants within the vivs for the chams to chose either cool end or hot basking end.

The chams are happy therefore I am happy. Very Happy

i just found this thread, and it took me ages but i read through all of it and rick what you have done is amazing, you could set up a business fitting out reptile shops and reptile rooms. I would pay you to fit out one for me sometime in the future lol. As your room is my dream!!

Three letters. W. O. W.

I've said a million times Rick, I'm not easily impressed - just when I think you're running your best - you still surprise me. I'm sure you do it on purpose! *chuckles*

A fascinating read, some great ideas. My new house is having a fish room built into it, and you've given me some VERY good ideas; shall be sharing them with the housemates. (I'm stealing some room for the amphibians, and will hide various reptiles around the house methinks)

Intrigued by the air-con system though, can you recommend a smaller one that can be safely affixed to an upstairs room?
