I have a strip light in my viv which i can't ever turn on coz my corn snake just loves to sit right on top of it.
So i was wondering what i could use to cover the tube to stop her from being able to perch herself up there and so i can use the light without worrying about her getting burned. |

you don't need a UV tube in a snake Viv they don't benefit from it _________________

not sure if there is anything you can do other than a custom light guard made out of fine wire or something?!
perhaps try a garden centre. the stuff I have in mind is a green plastic type thingy that would be used for plant stabilizing or something!?!
seen it in tube form as well as flat square sheets
I had a young corn that did the same thing so i just left the light off until it was too big to get up there.
hope you find a solution _________________ best of luck in the new season |

sorry just read that again, not much help is it
think chicken wire.
then square off the holes.
then coat that in green plastic.
you with me?
I'll be popping along to my local B&Q's in the next day or two. if i find what i have pictured in my head then i'll take a photo and post it _________________ best of luck in the new season |

Are you using it for UV or just for photoperiod? If for UV then what I am thinking of will be of no use, if for photoperiod it will be worth a try. Green house shading, it's a fine mesh usually plastic. The wire mesh a corn can get trhough I know I was wondering howone of my cors kept escaping from a viv and eventually cuahgt him getting through the 1cm sqaure mesh of a light guard, the light having been removed.
You could also just try making a tent out of netcurtain material, plain not pattered, to fit over the light area. |

The light has 2% uv, i only wanted to use it to have a photoperiod. I have quite a bit of greenery in my viv and wanted to brighten it up a bit.
I'll have a nose around and see what there is available. I wanted to try and find something that doesn't have to be drilled in place and could be fixed in place fairly easily seeing as im crap with diy If i don't find anything suitable then i'll just leave it switched off, it's not essential to have the light on it just looks better |

You will need to matke a fram for the two things I mentioned so the will need to be attached, as would any cover. I am absolutely rubbish I DIY I try to cut a straight line and get a perfect curve, as to hanging wallpaper forget it it starts vertical and ends horizontal, drilling is easy. You don't even need to drill you can use self tapping screws these are designed to make their own hole as they are screwed in. |
